Welcome to SMMI Province of Raipur
Initially SMMI in India was grouped into three provinces: North Province, Karnataka Province and Tamil Nadu Province which is today grown to five provinces – Nagpur, Raipur, Karnataka, Thanjavur and Salem, and two Regions – Kerala and North East. Mother Jeane Harriete was the provincial for the North India who was succeeded by Mother Mary Agnes in 1979. In 1985 Sr.James was appointed as the Provincial of North Indian province. For the better administration and effective missionary work, Raipur province was bifurcated from the mother province of Nagpur on 08-12-1987. At the time of bifurcation the Province had 120 sisters in 18 communities in the states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. Asha Niketan was made provincialate temporarily. Sr.Francis Micheal was appointed as the first provincial superior. With deep commitment and vision she shouldered the responsibility of the new born province from 1987-1997. In 1994 the new Provincialate building was constructed in the campus of Asha Niketan. Sr.Francis Michael was replaced by Sr. Elizabeth Francis in 1997 as the provincial superior who was succeeded by Sr.Anita George from 2003 to 2009 as the provincial. In 2009 Sr.Annies John was appointed as the provincial superior. Currently from 2015 Sr.Priti George is shouldering the responsibility as the Provincial of Raipur Province.

Our Formation
We focus on integrated formation that ensures the physical, spiritual, intellectual, moral and psychological development and right discernment of vocation at all levels of formation. Through the formation the formees are helped to grow unto the likeness of Christ and to be rooted in Him. We help them to know themselves better and to discern their vocation. The formees who have taken the first step to walk in the footprints of Jesus are helped to know Him better, to love Him dearly and to follow Him Faithfully
